My Christian Life

My story

The day that I chose to believe in Jesus Christ and trust Him as my Lord and Saviour was the best day of my life.

It was the day that I saw myself as a sinner that needed forgiveness and a life change. I bowed in prayer and put my faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God that was offering me salvation and forgiveness of my sins.

Since that day life has taken me on a journey through many ups and downs, through many trials and heartaches, and I have fallen and failed many many times, yet Jesus has been with me every step of the way. He truly has been the best friend that I’ve ever had, one who forgives me when I ask Him, one who speaks to me through his Word, someone I can talk to through prayer, one who picks me up when I fall, and one who gives me the grace, faith and wisdom to face life’s challenges. My life’s mission now is to tell others that Jesus can do the same for them. God does love you friend, and Jesus died and arose again to save you, but you must believe in Him.   - Joshua Stokes

As I’ve grown in my walk with the Lord I’ve discovered that we all have daily spiritual needs just as we have daily physical needs.

1) We need nutrition, and the source of our spiritual bread is the Bible, the Word of God. We must daily read and study God’s Word that was written for us. (the KJV is the perfect Bible in English) Reading the Bible increases our faith in God. Start off by reading a little bit each day until you get the hang of it, then read more. Start by reading the New Testament first, then read the Old Testament starting in Genesis. Reading just 3 chapters each day you can read the whole Bible in a year.

2) We need to communicate with the Lord. We need to speak to the Lord though Prayer everyday. The whole Bible is filled with examples of godly men and women who spoke to God through prayer on a daily basis. Daniel opened his window and prayed 3 times a day. It’s not difficult , just be open and honest with the Lord. Tell Him about your fears and doubts , your needs and wants, your struggles and victories and be sure to thank Him for taking care of you and being there for you. The Lord really wants to hear from us, and in return we get a blessing out of it.

3) We need others. We need to fellowship / spend time with other Christians. The way the Lord designed this is through the church. The Bible said that Christ died for the church. Going to church is essential to the Christian life. Finding a church that loves you, that teaches & preaches the Bible and that has a heart for reaching other people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the will of God for our lives. Remember that no church is perfect. Pray and ask the Lord to lead you to a good church that loves Jesus and believes the Bible. (I’ve been blessed that the Lord has always allowed me to find a bible believing baptist church to take my family to.)
